Foreign direct investment (FDI) is a major pillar of economic globalization. Since the 1990s, the role of multinational enterprises has increased firmly in both North and South. This seminar is designed to offer an overview of topics and empirical analysis methods to allow students to gain or enhance the understanding of FDI and multinationals. The main themes and the status quo will be studied and discussed using standard tools of economic investigation. At the end of this seminar, students will have attained a structured knowledge of FDI dynamics as well as be familiar with data sources, analytical methods, and academic writing.
