Contents

The lectures aim at offering an understanding of the dynamics underlying the economic rise of Asia and the factors driving regional economic integration. The module includes the comparative study of trade and industrial policies of major Asian countries in order to differentiate between different patterns of development in Asia, the analysis of the emergence of regional production networks and their impact on economic growth and regional division of labour, an exploration of China`s and Japan`s role for regional economic development, and the study of the process of regional economic integration, concentrating on the role of institutions in the creation of an East Asian Economic Community.
